Alexa, Niara, and Dr. Dane attended the 74th Annual ASMS Conference in San Diego, CA that occurred May 31 - June 4. Alexa gave a poster presentation for her research titled “Chemical Communications: Discovery and Elucidation of Carrion Insect Cues that Prompt Carcass Colonization Behavior by DART-HRMS and TD/GC-MS” during Tuesday’s poster session. Niara gave an extremely well received oral presentation titled “Answering burning questions: A comparative analysis and identification of cannabidiol and Δ9-tetrahydro-cannabinol pyrolysis products” during Wednesday’s Forensics, Innovations and Application oral session. Finally, Dr Dane stepped in for Dr Musah and presented her poster “The Curious Behavior of Organosulfur Compounds in the DART Gas Stream: Implications for the Interpretation of Disulfide DART Mass Spectra” during Thursday’s poster session. Overall, it was a very successful conference that generated a lot of interest in our research efforts here at LSU.
