Professor Musah was invited to present at the 2022 Workshop for Interaction and Scientific Collaboration (WISC). She gave a talk titled “Small Molecule Interrogation of Various Cell Systems using ‘LADI-MS’”. In addition, Alexa presented a poster titled “Eggs-amining the Utility of DART-HRMS for Species Identification of Necrophagous Insect Eggs - Towards Facilitation of Post-Mortem Interval Determination” and received a “Best Poster” award.

Monica, Alexa and Niara traveled to Rochester, NY to present at the 2022 American Chemical Society Northeastern Regional Meeting (NERM). Monica gave an oral talk titled “Getting to the ‘Root’ of the Problem: Species Identification of Endangered Wood by DART-HRMS and Multivariate Statistical Analysis”. Alexa presented a poster titled “Eggs-ploring the use of DART-HRMS to Differentiate between Eggs of Various Blowfly Species”. Niara represented the Eastern New York Younger Chemists Committee and presented a poster on their cosmetic chemistry immersion program.

Allix and Daman traveled to Chicago, IL to present at the American Chemical Society Fall 2022 National Meeting. RNA Science Bake Off
Amy participated in the University at Albany 2022 RNA Science Bake Off and won the “Best Tasting” category for her gingerbeer cake with raspberries in a lime syrup topped with homemade whipped cream and the dark chocolate syringe for garnish. Congratulations Amy!

The Musah Lab attended the New York Capital Region Student Chapter of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy (NYCRSAS) First Annual New York Capital Region Applied Spectroscopy Symposium in Albany, NY. Monica presented a poster titled “Identification of Tryptamines by Chemometric Processing of Fused Mass Spectrometry and IR Spectroscopy Data” and was awarded the best poster award.
Meghan and Niara Graduate
Dr. Meghan Appley graduated with her Ph.D. She is currently a post-doc at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Niara also received her B.S. degree in Chemistry from UAlbany. She will be continuing her Ph.D. studies in the Musah Lab. Congratulations Dr. Appley and Niara!
